Red Midnight, Wow what a book! The details of this book are so descriptive. It's almost like you're in the book with the characters. It's a book about a family that lives in Guatemala. It was invaded by the rebel soldiers and all the family gets killed but two little kids escape. There is a 15 year old boy, Santiago, and his younger sister, Angelica. They climb onto a wounded horse that takes them so the closest city. When they get there they hitch a ride on a truck that's full of horse waste. They get off of the truck and see this nice family that gives the all of their food to them. After that they get their Tios cayuco and they start sailing to someplace better. they know that there are pirates on the sea so they're extra careful about where they sail. They decide to rest on a close island they spot. They set sail the next day, after about 5 hours they go through a huge sea storm. Will they make it safe to America. Santiago made a promise with the family that helped him, but will he be able to keep his promise?

This book made me realize that I have it made living here, compared to people in other places, like Santiago.
